Coercive Control is a Captivity Crime. Description: It is important to understand the process and dynamics of Coercive Control. Consider the web of entrapment by the controller that encases the victim as a spider encases its prey, gradually tightening the web until the victim dies from suffocation. Coercive Controllers use this same process to entrap the victim by first taking her hostage, then slowly and methodically draining the life out of her. Once control is firmly established, the victim requires outside intervention to escape.
